How do the players react to the news of Littlefield's firing? And no, I don't mean quotes to journalists.
I mean in actual on-field performance. Now I know, overall, the on-field performance has been very poor this season. But there have been "streaks" (every team has these streaks, even very bad ones) of decent play.
So, what will it be? Will the players perform above and beyond their capabilities in an effort to impress whoever the new management will be? Or will the players tighten up and play even worse than usual due to the uncertainty of not knowing how they will be regarded next season? Or will it be the same old, same old show--a moment or two of legitimate MLB play overshadowed by lots of moments that come from players who aren't quality MLB players?
All I'm saying is, I'm curious to see how the players react in terms of on-field performance. Though, really, on-field performance can be influenced by things such as gimpy hamstrings and tired arms and not just whatever psychological response happens as a result of the general manager being fired.
